The fact is that the tribes that lived in the northern lands - the current Nenets - were previously called "Samoyeds". And the first dogs of this breed appeared in them. Most likely, these tribes domesticated the polar wolf: even until now, the Samoyeds look very similar to white wolves, as they are also called polar.
